Introduction
This subject is called New Communication Technologies, which explores the impact of technology in todays modern society. In the week 1 lecture, we were introduced to the teaching team: Steven Stockwell (lecturer), Dr. Deborah Beattie and Tutors: Adam Muir, Ben isakhan and Mitch Goodwin and discussed all elements of the course, including the issue of information about our assignments.
In the week 2 lecture we watched the first half of a wierd, french, sci fi movie called Alphaville, which i thought was crappy because it should have been spoken in english. In next week's lecture, we will continue to watch the second half of Alphaville and explore the birth of the computer.

Semiotics - The study of signs in regard to social life.
Semantics - The relationship of signs to what they stand for
syntactics (syntax) - the formal or structural relationships between signs. eg nouns, verbs, etc
pragmatics - The relationship between sighns to an interpreter.
Denotation and Conotation - What signs say and what they say to us.
